Get In The Know ~ Educate Yourself!

A Childbirth Educator Has Resources For You To Use ~ Like DVDs and Books
I know many women who don't bother with any kind of prenatal education. They either think that the only people who attend prenatal classes are moms who want to have a natural childbirth, or they figure if they need to know anything- their doctor will tell them. Whether you are planning a C-section, want to have that epidural inserted before you even get out of your car, or want to have your baby as normally as possible- I'm here to tell you that Prenatal/Antenatal Education is for you! An educated mom is an empowered mom! You become the expert on your own body and part of the team when it comes to making decisions that determine the course of your health care. You will be able to recognize signs of possible complications and share them with your care provider. You will also know which birth practices are safest based on current studies and be able to make truly informed decisions about which ones to use.

There are advantages to attending a prenatal class, rather than just reading books or surfing the internet for your information. A trained prenatal instructor has the background, breadth and depth of knowledge to be able to filter through the many books, articles, and websites and recognize which are from a credible sources and which truly support evidence based practices. In a class, you are shown and are able to practice exercises, positions, techniques and other experiential aspects of labor, birth, and breastfeeding. You ask questions, share insights, and learn from one another. Plus, you build friendships with other moms and dads who are going through the same new experiences as you- you can share information and support one another.

Childbirth Classes in Muscat 2010 ~ two of the couples were missing that day, but we generally don't go larger than 6 couples per class. Many good memories together!
